When Life Gets Hard

Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed by your circumstances? Like totally consumed by them? Have you ever gone through something that felt so heavy that it threatened to consume you and you almost couldn't see past it?

Jesus has.

I cannot even begin to imagine the heartache and panic Jesus might have felt as he kneeled in that garden to pray. As he begged God, his Father, to spare him the agony he was about to endure. And yet the heart of his prayer was for God's will be done. Not his. Jesus was 100% human just like us! But he was able to endure the cross because he kept his mind fixed on his Father and the joy that awaited him in heaven.

The Message Bible says it like this...

"Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed- that exhilarating finish in and with God- he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!" Hebrew 12:2-3

Grounded in Scripture

We trust you will be able to connect with Christ through an engaging worship experience. If you are a first time guest, please fill out the information section on the front side of this bulletin and place it in the offering plates when they are passed. Additionally, I would love to connect with you after the worship service to give you a gift for being with us today. Finally, if you would like more information about joining UABC, We would love to see you in our next Connection Class on Sunday, April 24, @ 9:30 AM in our Fellowship Hall. Thanks again for being with us!

This morning we are going to look at UABC Value #2: "Scripture Grounded". Why do we take the Bible seriously here at UABC? Why should each one of us take it seriously in our personal lives? Join me in Hebrews chapter 4:11-13 as we look at the importance of the Scriptures in our lives.

Finally, at the end of my message today, we are going to observe the Lord's Supper corporately as a body. We invite each baptized follower of Christ to participate in this act of worship. You do not need to be a member of UABC. We will call for each person who is physically able to make his or her way down front to take the bread and the cup back to one's seat. Furthermore, we will have our deacons serve you where you are seated if you need assistance.
