Because I'm Happyyyyyyyy!

When it comes to contentment, I think all of us have areas that we can work on. Some of us right want more stuff, a bigger house, better food, or nicer clothes. We thought it would be fun to play with this ridiculous idea of "Super Size Me." We want kids to wonder what it would be like if they got everything they ever wanted. Especially, when we, as adults, know that getting everything you could ever want isn't all it's cracked up to be. When God gives you what you need, you can be content with what you have and be generous to others in return.

Don and I recently attended the C2M Conference on missions put on by the MidSouth Baptist Association. It was a great conference. In one of the breakout sessions, I learned that the United States has the 4th most non-Christians in the world behind only China, India and Indonesia.

Furthermore, out of the 6.3 million people who call Tennessee home around 44% do not go to church on a regular basis. That's almost half of the people in our state! Finally, right here in Shelby County 36.6% do not go to church on a given Sunday.

These numbers are sad and mind blowing when you think about how many people do not have a saving relationship with Christ.

What are we called to do about it? We the church, specifically UABC, are called to be missionaries sharing and engaging with people the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This Sunday we are going to look at our final value as a church: "The Great Commission", and we are going to look at how each one of us can make a difference for eternity in someone's life when we remember who we are and what we are to do for the Lord.

Grace and peace,

Pastor T
