"Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?" (Matt. 11:3)
From his jail cell John The Baptist sends this question via his disciples to be asked of Jesus. John wanted to know if Jesus was "the one" as he reference in Matthew 3:11;
"I baptize you with water for repentance, but the One who is coming after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to remove His sandals. He Himself will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."
How many times have you echoed John's question? During that time of doubt. During that time of fear. A period of uncertainty. It really is hard to keep the faith, to stay positive in a world and society that is always questing and asking..."Is He the one?
John found himself in a moment of what some say could have been a time of depression, remember he was in jail. John was in jail because one of the political leaders was living with his brother's wife. John called him out, and John went to jail. This is not where John thought he would end up...in jail. At the bottom looking up. So John sends his disciples to ask both for themselves and him..."Are you the one?"
Don't get caught up in the doubts. Protect yourself from being one of the ones that says "Is He the one?" The way to protect yourself from asking this question is by doing this one thing...make room for Him in all that you do.
