Serve

"You can have it all, Lord
Every part of my world
Take this life and breathe on
This heart that is now Yours"

The epitome of service begins with an willingness to "give it all"  A couple of weeks ago we revisited a familiar passage where the challenge is given both via a prayer in the Old Testament and a reminder by Christ in the New Testament.  We are to "Love the Lord our God with ALL..." We are to give HIM our ALL.  We are to do so in our connecting with others, in our personal growth with HIM and in our service.

Our service is two-fold, it is first of all service to HIM and secondly service to HIS body which is HIS family of faith...the church.

When planning for our service this coming Sunday and meeting with Gaby she felt lead to have the song "Have it all" as part of our worship set. In her own words she said;

"I think Have it all works well for this week because even though it doesn't specifically say that we should use our talents in the church, it does talk about surrendering or lives and laying down our crowns for Him, which in this case can easily mean that we are to offer up every aspect of who we are to Him, including our gifts and talents. It says "you can have it all, Lord.... There is no greater call than giving you my all, I lay it all down."

We each have a "call" to Serve the Lord.  Be in prayer as you seek what God would have you do for Him here at UABC!

Again?

Again?

So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. 1 Corinthians 12:26

What a contrast. We had such a wonderful day with God's people and God's Church yesterday. We focused in on the text in Mark 12:29-30 and were reminded to "Love the Lord your God with ALL of your heart, All your soul, and ALL your mind."

Meanwhile several families in Texas went to church to worship the Lord and encourage each other and instead... entered into a nightmare from which they will be unable to awake. Again there was another unnecessary shooting.  One that claimed lives of those in the midst of Worship. A shooting that enters itself among the long line of recent shootings that leave us saying "Again?"

The shooting at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas prompts two sobering thoughts. One, it could have been any of us. Two, it "was" us. In Christ, we are one. When one member suffers, all the members suffer and likewise when one rejoices all the members rejoice.
Today our primary thoughts and prayers should be focused on Pastor Frank Pomeroy and his wife Sherri as they grieve the loss of their 14yr old daughter and as they mourn the other 25 members of their church. In a statement released earlier today Sherri Pomeroy said;

"We lost more than Belle yesterday, and the one thing that gives me a sliver of encouragement is the fact that Belle was surrounded, by her church family that she loved fiercely, and vice versa. Our church was not comprised of members or parishioners, we were a very close family,"

So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. 1 Corinthians 12:26
