Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age." The Message (Mt 28:18-20).
It has been an incredible month of September! We have heard about opportunities regarding international, local, compassion and personal missions. We participated in our state convention state mission campaign. Finally we were reminded multiple times that we never know what the impact of one conversation can produce.
Remember; Ministry is a service to those believers inside the walls of the church and missions is a service to the non-believer outside the walls of the church. Missions is not something that is simply done one time in one location. Missions is something that is done "day after day after day, right up to the end of the age." There is no age limitations, no excuses, no stopping, we are to share the Gospel of Christ as we go.
On Sunday you will be asked to prayerfully commit to being a part of a mission. Inside the Worship folder you receive a card. During the offering at the conclusion of the service I'm asking you to offer yourself for service. Service to serve God and mission. You can select to volunteer, give and/or pray for any mission programs that was introduced this month. Then place that card in the offering plate.
Christ fulfilled His mission. On Sunday we will be reminded of that mission and its completion as we approach His table of reflection. Let's work together each day to accomplish our mission. It is a joy to be on mission with each of you!
