Unbelievable
The mere mention of the word "unbelievable" can instantly trigger a flood of memories, making us wonder if certain events from our past were actual. We’ve all experienced those moments when we're in disbelief, trying to come to terms with what we've just witnessed. There’s just something about that word that encapsulates the feeling of doubt better than any other.
Over the past week, our family has had our version of “unbelievable.” While we eagerly await the arrival of the first baby in our family in 16 years, we have found ourselves in moments of wait, emotions, conversations, and setbacks. Both families have come together this week, seeking to observe the miracle of life that God has created, and yet, at the same time, each of us has had moments of “well, it’s unbelievable what God is doing.”But should we be surprised? God works on His timing and plan. He is in the business of the unbelievable.
Creating the world and causing a flood is unbelievable, as is a man in a fiery furnace and a prophet consumed by a large fish. The Messiah’s ambition to give His life on the cross for my sins is unbelievable. So why should we be surprised that God is doing something unbelievable again this week? At some point in our hands, we will cuddle a newborn baby, and our thoughts will still be “unbelievable.” Thus begins the unbelievable rescue of our lives.
"The unbelievable story of my rescue" finds its ultimate fulfillment and meaning in the Gospel truth of redemption, celebrated during Easter. Just as the phrase suggests an incredible tale of deliverance from dire circumstances, the Gospel narrative portrays the most remarkable rescue mission in history. Through Jesus Christ's sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection, humanity was rescued from the bondage of sin and death and ushered into a new life of freedom, forgiveness, and eternal hope.
The Easter story reveals the unbelievable depths of God's love for humanity, demonstrated through Christ's willingness to lay down His life to ransom us from the power of sin and death. Despite our unworthiness and rebellion, God orchestrated a divine rescue plan that culminated in Christ's victory over sin and death on the cross. This unparalleled act of redemption is a testament to God's unfathomable grace and mercy, who spared no expense to reconcile us to Himself.
Moreover, the Easter season is a powerful reminder that our rescue is not merely a historical event but an ongoing reality we can personally experience. Through faith in Christ, we are invited to participate in the story of redemption, forgiveness of sins, adoption into God's family, and the promise of eternal life. As we reflect on the unbelievable story of our rescue during Easter, we are filled with gratitude and awe at the magnitude of God's love and the depth of His mercy towards us. It is a story of hope, restoration, and transformation that inspires and captivates hearts worldwide, inviting all to experience the life-changing power of God's redeeming love.
