Is He Worthy

About 4 months ago I heard the song “He is Worthy” for the first time. I was completely enthralled in the questions; Do you feel the world is broken? Do you feel the shadows deepen? Is all creation groaning? Is a new creation coming? Does the Father truly love us? Does the Spirit move among us? Does Jesus, our Messiah hold forever those He loves? Does our God intend to dwell again with us?

Our experiences, our teachings, and our understanding of scriptures have given us the answers to those very questions; “We do”, “He is”, “He Does”. We know the answers because someone took the time to share with us the birth of the Christ child in the town of Bethlehem. The entirety of creation, prophecies, and truth is found complete at the end of God’s written Word. In Revelation 5 this wonderful scene unfolds where John is looking around and realizing that nobody can be found worthy to break the seal and open the scroll and to ascend to the Throne. He is weeping loudly because there is nobody worthy to do this thing. The question is asked; "Is there anyone worthy?" The answer is simple; “He is!”

The child in the manger and the grace displayed on the cross will be identified as “The Lion from the tribe of Judah, The root of David”. This Christmas we will celebrate the one that is completely worthy of all things!

On behalf of all of those that will be involved the next few weeks, let me wish each of you a Merry Christmas!

Do you feel the world is broken? (We do)

  • Why do we believe that the world is broken?

  • How do you respond when you know that someone has fallen to temptation? Genesis 3:1

Do you feel the shadows deepen? (We do)

  • It is one thing to recognize someone else’s brokenness, but are you aware of you own?

  • What are the deep shadows in your own life?

  • Has your faith been questioned, whether by yourself or others? How do you deal with that ‘Dark Shadow?’

But do you know that all the dark won't stop the light from getting through? (We do)

  • How can you share of God’s ability to conquer the darkness this Christmas Season.

  • If you admit that the world is broken, that you are struggling, then it is time to be reminded that the one that came in a manger was sent to be the light…the light in the darkness! Luke 1:78

Do you wish that you could see it all made new? (We do)

  • Recall the memories of “things being new on Christmas morning” The newness of toys, electronics, clothes. There was excitement, joy and wonder. How did you feel after all the work and anticipation became true?

  • How awesome will it be for believers when they “see” all things being made new! It will be Christmas morning forever! 2 Peter 3:13
