Isolation
For many reasons, I'm excited about this upcoming Sermon Series - "Returning from Isolation; Seeking to be replenished." The main reason is that all of us have one thing in common during these last 13-14months. We have been isolated; we have been isolated from Faith, Family, Hope, God, Church, and others. The question that should be considered is; how do we pursue God during periods of isolation, and how do we fulfill the need to be replenished?
Thankfully, the Bible records many instances of God's people experiencing the very thing driving this series; isolation from God and others at various moments. We will look to these instances to consider specific ways God's people have been tempted to turn from Him in isolation and how we might fight this temptation in our own lives.
Isolation from Faith - Genesis 12 - Abraham was isolated in receiving God's call and believing God's promises for his future. Still, he responded in faith over fear and unbelief.
Isolation from Family - Genesis37 - When we feel wronged by those we love, we are tempted to become isolated in bitterness and cynicism. Yet, God's continual presence reminds us of His grace and enables us to show that grace to others.
Isolation from Hope - 1 Kings 19 - God meets us in the valleys of life, even when all Hope seems lost
Isolation from God - Psalm 13 - Even when we feel isolated from God, we can be sure that He is continually present and will never abandon us.
Isolation from Church - Acts 28 - Despite being restricted under house arrest, Paul still made the most of every opportunity to share the gospel.
Isolation from others in the end - Revelation 1 - John was isolated in exile at the end of his life, but God still used him to deliver Hope to the church.
As we prepare for this time of Worship together in the coming weeks, friends will you join with me in praying; by praising the One who made the gospel possible—thank Jesus for salvation. Ask the Lord to help you be content in all circumstances, and invite the Holy Spirit to encourage you to proclaim His name in any place, at any time. Pray that your circumstances, no matter how challenging, would be used for the glory of God and the spreading of the gospel.
Serving Him,
Pastor Jeff
