Still Speaking

So much unfolds in the pages of Scripture between Palm Sunday and Resurrection Sunday. From the waving of palm branches to the donkey’s humble steps, from the joyful cries of “Hosanna!” to the heart-wrenching chants of “Crucify Him!”—the final week of Jesus’ life is full of prophecy, passion, and purpose. Then came the cross. The nails. The darkness. The final words spoken in suffering. And after that—silence.

On that Saturday, the tomb was sealed. The disciples were scattered. Hope seemed buried. But the silence did not mean the story had ended. In that stillness, the Scriptures were being fulfilled. Hope was being planted, quietly and deeply—ready to rise.

When Jesus rose from the grave, He didn’t just appear—He spoke. And those first words spoken after the resurrection were filled with power and grace. They were not the end of a chapter but the beginning of a new commission for all who would believe. Jesus said, “Do not cling to me” (John 20:17), an invitation to move forward, not backward—because the mission had only just begun. He said, “Peace be with you” (John 20:19), offering eirēnē—a peace that brings wholeness, even in locked rooms of fear. He declared, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29), blessing all who walk by faith and trust His voice above what their eyes can see.

Then He said, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19–20), commissioning His followers to move from belief to boldness. “Wait for the promise of the Father” (Acts 1:4–5),

He reminded them, encouraging a Spirit-empowered mission fueled not by human strength but by divine assurance. And finally, as He ascended, His departure came with a promise: “This same Jesus… will come again” (Acts 1:11). We live in the light of that promise today.

The resurrection wasn’t just an event. It was the dawning of a new voice—the voice of the risen King, calling His people into peace instead of fear, faith instead of doubt, mission instead of passivity, and hope instead of despair. Jesus speaks peace over your chaos, power into your weakness, and purpose into your everyday. The question isn’t whether Jesus is speaking—but whether you and I are listening.

This Easter season, let the silence be broken in your heart. Let the voice of Jesus rise again in your soul. The tomb is empty. The Savior is risen. And He is still speaking. He speaks again. Will you respond?
